The furnace conked out last night–it had seemed to be noisier than usual, and there was a pronounced smell of oil (not gas, mind you, heating oil) when it ran, so I wasn’t totally surprised. I checked the switch and reset switch and all, but it was dead. I just had an oil delivery last week (ouch!!!!), so it wasn’t that. It wasn’t cold enough to pay for a weekend/night emergency call, so I called this morning. Lorden Oil was very prompt, my, they were here within an hour. He replaced the oil nozzle. I have no idea what this will set me back–the fall tune-up was a bit of a shock–but at least it’s a regular business hours service call. And I’m only a little behind my usual Monday schedule, which is to get the laundry done (I have no dryer, so everything has to hang up in the utility room or outside. I could hang things outside, it’s very nice out and already 54 F (12 C)…but there’s still snow and ice on the ground and, fooey, I just don’t wanna.
I’m making plans to attend my very first professional publishing conference, the Independent Publishers of New England Meet in North Adams on March 31st.
