The unexpected problems people have…

I spotted this headline from today’s Boston Globe:

Winters a trial for Maine’s nudists

I remember in the early 80’s when “skyclad” or “clothing optional” Pagan gatherings were more or less the rule, and organizers prioritized finding locations that allowed that. Gradually more and more gatherings started to get restrictive, pleading that their site wouldn’t permit nudity or that parents were bringing more kids to gatherings and the parents objected to the kids seeing strangers “skyclad.” I haven’t been to gatherings for quite some time, but like SF conventions, they seem to have gotten very commercialized–and therefore, much more conservative and conventional. It’s disappointing.

Oh, well, sounds like I have something else to look forward to when I move to Maine!
