For all us writers…

I’m going through my self-publishing list archives (because now I need the information I saved the messages for, also I’m looking at website designs) and I found this short list of “inspirational quotes for writers” that Shel Horowitz posted:

“If you wait for inspiration to write, you’re not
a writer, you’re a waiter.” – Dan Poynter

“If my doctor told me I had only 6 months left to
live, I’d type a little faster.” – Isaac Asimov

When asked the secret to finishing a book,
best-selling author Bryce Courtenay (“The Power
of One”) said, “Bum glue!”

“I write when I’m inspired, and I see to it that
I’m inspired at 9 am every morning.” – Peter De
Vries

“I have to block out ego, the piece of me that’s
going, ‘How am I doing, champ?’ That has to do
with the finished work which is a separate
creature. I need to be still enough to hear the
voice that tells me what I’m supposed to do
next.” – Sue Grafton

“I think I did pretty well, considering I started
out with nothing but a bunch of blank paper.” –
Steve Martin

“Inspiration usually comes during work, not before it.” – Madeleine
L’Engle
