Upcoming Films to be Screened at the Beals Memorial Library

If you love movies and you’re looking for some relaxing, indoor fun this month, then go to the Beals Memorial Library in Winchendon for their February Frozen Films.

On Thursday, February 20th, the library will be screening both an afternoon and evening film, starting with their Classic Movie Matinee at 1:30 PM. This month’s selection is Guess Who’s Coming to Dinner? (unrated), starring Sidney Poitier, Katherine Hepburn, Spencer Tracy, and Katherine Houghton. The film is about a couple whose views are put to the test when their daughter introduces them to her African-American fiancé.

Then, at 6 PM, the library will be showing this month’s Teen Movie, Ford VS. Ferrari (rated PG 13), starring Matt Damon and Christian Bale. The movie follows American car designer, Carroll Shelby, who’s given an opportunity to help Ford build a revolutionary car that can beat Ferrari at the 1966 24 Hours of Le Mans endurance race. Teaming up with British sports car driver and engineer, Ken Miles, the two face off against corporate interference and the laws of physics to achieve their goal.

For the final film of the month, the library will screen The Addams Family (rated PG) on Saturday, February 22, at 10:30 AM. This morning matinee features the vocal talents of Oscar Isaac, Charlize Theron, and Allison Janney. The eccentric and spooky Addams family moves to a dreary, mountain-top mansion in New Jersey. Thirteen years later, a bland suburban community is being built around them by a colorfully wicked real estate and home decor guru who’ll stop at nothing to get rid of the neighborhood eyesore.

The Beals Memorial Library is located at 50 Pleasant Street in Winchendon. For more information, please contact the library at 978-297-0300. All movie screenings at the library are free and open to the public.

The Winchendon Firefighters Relief Association is proud to anounce its 6th Annual Golf Tournament. This event is Saturday, May 16th at the Templewood Golf Course, Templeton, MA.

As a major infrastructure in town, we hope The Winchendon Firefighters Relief Association can rely on you to back this worthy event. A show of your support will greatly strengthen this fundraiser and potentially increase the sponsorship of other local entities as well. Our goal is to maximize our field of golfers and raise more money than ever before. To do this, we truly need your help!

Movies raised will further our ability to help those in need, educate the community in fire safety (with special focus on children and senior citizens), award scholarships to graduating seniors, and provide for those less fortunate during the holiday season.

We invite you to help however you can--whether it be as a sponsor, vendor, golfer, raffle item donor, or any combination thereof! With your commitment to aid in our fundraising goal, this year's tournament will allow us to help the community more than ever before!
