*sigh*

My dad just called me from Heywood Hospital. He had some difficulty during his cardiac rehab session this morning and he’s in for a lot of tests. He has to stay overnight and have a stress test tomorrow, and he’s all grumpy about it.

It seems that his blood sugar was really high…and it turns out that he hasn’t been taking his meds correctly. For months. They think the latter is the root problem. And, so far he hasn’t been whipped down to Worcester, which would really be a concern. If they keep him in Heywood, they’re not panicking.

I’m going to have to call my dad every night and make sure he’s taken his meds!

Meanwhile, my life goes on with everything I have to get done still waiting, and unaffected by the financial crisis so far. It’s always something, isn’t it??

Rally in Alaska concerning Sarah Palin

Holy shit…

The House just defeated the “bail-out bill.” The stock market is plummeting.

Whew.

I got stuck watching 1-2 minute segments of 60 Minutes, about the financial crisis, earlier today because Yahoo has them on sequential autoplay–click on one and they just keep on going. I tend to get fascinated by talking heads discussing Serious Shit. Bad me. I finally had to stop and get back to work.

I’ll be appearing at the Big E on Tuesday

I’ll be signing books at The Big E Massachusetts Pavilion on Tuesday, September 23 from 2:00 p.m. until closing at 9:00 p.m. If you’re in the area of Springfield, Massachusetts, and you’d like to visit one of the biggest annual fairs in the region, stop on by! All information you need is on the Big E (a.k.a. The Eastern States Exposition) website.

It’s a four-hour round trip, so I’m looking at a long day (and the fairgound charges for its wi-fi connection, *grump*). I have no idea what to expect, and it would be great to see a friend or two out there! I’m the only person on the IPNE table for the day.

On Wednesday, I’ll finally be able to breathe…I think!

Woo-hoo!

Whew…what a ton of work that was! I guess I just can’t do things halfway!

My official Author Website is now live. Oh, it’s not finished yet, I have more text to add and also more photos and graphics will be coming. But it’s finished enough to announce and give the links to.

It’s actually the author website and the website for The Vampires of New England Series. http://inannaarthen.com and http://vampiresofnewengland.com both resolve to the same site. Check it out! 🙂

Weird, man…

I guess no art is too weird that life can’t imitate it.

Anyone remember the very first season of Buffy the Vampire Slayer? In the episode, “The Witch,” a maniacal mom uses magic to switch bodies with her daughter so she can relive her glory days as a cheerleader.

In the mundane world, we don’t have soul-swapping witchcraft, we have identity theft.

That’s even creepier. *shiver*

Last minute appearance alert!

Quite unexpectedly, I have an opportunity to share a vendor table tomorrow with morvenwestfield at Southern New Hampshire Pagan Pride Day in Manchester, New Hampshire. The event is 10:00 a.m. to 6:00 p.m. and will include drumming, workshops, open circles, Pagan vendors and more good stuff. Attendees are encouraged to bring some non-perishable food to contribute to a food drive. If you’re Pagan, and in the area, stop on by! Information is available on the event website.

When you see this, post a quote from Douglas Adams in your blog.

“And somewhere in the shadows behind them–who? Who can possibly rule if no one who wants to can be allowed to?”

A particularly relevant one at the moment, I think.
