I know I’ve been really quiet lately. My mom passed away yesterday afternoon. She came home on hospice care on August 28th, and deteriorated really fast. My dad, my sister (out from Chicago), my aunt June (who drove up from Florida) and I have been mom’s primary caregivers, and all four of us have hardly been enough–it’s been a nightmarish couple of weeks. The last week, mom was completely delusional and didn’t even know us. I’ve mostly been up at my folks’ house and have had very little Internet access. The memorial service is on the 24th, so I’m going to be preoccupied for several more weeks. My dad is having a very rough time, he and my mom were married for 55 years.
