Water and Fire

This boat has been outside a bodywork shop a few doors up the road from my house for months–the cover was off it today so I took this picture. I don’t know about you, but I don’t think I would choose that name for a boat. 8-( (I believe it’s for sale, if you’re in the market for a boat–and you’re really, really brave!)

I finally got a cord of firewood for the winter. I’ve been looking for firewood for a couple of months. The best price I heard was up by my dad’s, but I called them and they wouldn’t deliver this far away. I found this vendor, Shawn Thibeault, when I passed a sign by the side of the road while running errands on Monday. I pulled off the road, turned around, and drove back just to copy down the phone number. We played telephone tag for two days, and when we finally connected today, he said he had a cord ready to go today but the buyer cancelled, and he offered me $20 off if I wanted it. I said, “I’ll take it.” I’ll probably order another cord from him as soon as I stack this one and figure out where I can put a second cord. It’s absolutely gorgeous wood–all red oak with a little red maple. The cord I bought last fall was kind of crappy.
