Happy Thanksgiving to all my US friends!

Wishing everyone a happy, healthy, safe, non-stressed day! I’ll be up at my dad’s cooking dinner for him, his friend Ty and me. I should say, “finishing cook dinner” because I’ve been cooking for the last two days. 🙂 I don’t get to cook fancy food or cook for other people very often, and when I do, I pull out all the stops. I made homemade jellied cranberry sauce, starting with a bag of fresh cranberries, a couple of weeks ago, because that keeps. On Tuesday I made honey-ginger sweet potatoes and little apple-blueberry tarts (kind of a long story there, but they turned out great, and I picked both the blueberries and the apples myself and put them up for the winter). Today I made green beans and pearl onions (both fresh, so I had to peel all those little onions, *sniff*) in alfredo sauce (because I happened to have the ingredients), stuffing and reduced stock for the gravy. Tomorrow, I’ll make the turkey, gravy and mashed potatoes and reheat everything else (viva la microwave!). Whew! What a feast!

And just in the nick of time, too, because the cats have figured out that the turkey is in the refrigerator. Every time I open the door I have to extricate a cat to close it!
