Taking a break from catching up on e-mail and forum posts. Gakked from punjabhappy:

What American accent do you have? (Best version so far)

Neutral

You’re not Northern, Southern, or Western, you’re just plain -American-. Your national identity is more important than your local identity, because you don’t really have a local identity. You might be from the region in that map, which is defined by this kind of accent, but you could easily not be. Or maybe you just moved around a lot growing up.

I do have a fairly bland accent, partly because I’ve had a lot of formal voice, speech and acting training, partly because I speak several languages, and partly because I did move around quite a lot. My parents, and their families for several generations, are both from west-upstate New York; I was born in Vermont and lived there until age 4; my parents then moved to Ann Arbor, Michigan for about half a year, then to Spokane, Washington, where I lived until I was 15. Since age 15, I’ve lived in Massachusetts. But I do have several odd pronunciations that this quiz wholly fails to test for. I have no idea how a real life “Professor Higgins” would tag me!
