JAFFREY, New Hampshire (February 17, 2020) The Park Theatre announced they will be presenting the acclaimed Mill City Rags jazz band at the American Legion Hall in Jaffrey this Friday, February 21 at 7:30pm.

Mill City Rags is an original ragtime jazz band performing an eclectic mix of vintage music. The band includes Jo-Ann Gerde, known throughout New England for her amazing drum-playing skills. Additional players include pianist Jimmy Otis, Rick Posch (bass), Arthur Bakopolus (clarinet), and singer Nicolle Edgecomb who also plays trumpet. Mill City Rags plays weekly in Lowell, MA and throughout New England.

Toes will be tapping, and hands will be clapping this Friday evening as the band goes through a songbook of 1920s and 1930s jazz/swing/rag classics and more. Dancing is strongly encouraged. All tickets are $20 each.

This concert will take place at the American Legion Hall in Jaffrey, New Hampshire, located at 20 Webster Street. A bar will be open for beverage sales, and food will also be available. This event is made possible by an underwriting grant from Hobb’s Jewelers and James Thomas Salon, both of Peterborough. The fundraising concert will support the new Park Theatre that is scheduled to open later this year. The two auditorium, state-of-the-art performing arts complex is currently under construction in downtown Jaffrey.

The Park Theatre will be the first community-based performing arts center to be built from the ground up in the Monadnock region in almost one hundred years. It will be a showplace for national and regional musical performers as well as plays from New England playwrights, local performing groups, school productions, and movies from new releases to independents, classics, documentaries, foreign and animation. It will also present HD screenings of The Royal Shakespeare Company and the Royal Ballet & Royal Opera. Additionally, it will provide after school theatre programs and filmmaking courses for children as well as workshops for adults. Finally, it will generate over two dozen new jobs and promote business and real estate development in Jaffrey and the surrounding communities.
