JULY 17, 1931 ~ NOVEMBER 15, 2019 (AGE 88)


WINCHENDON – Phyllis E. Kendall, 88, formerly of 286 Spring Street, died peacefully Friday morning, November 15, 2019 in Wachusett Manor Nursing Home, Gardner.
A lifelong resident of Winchendon, she was born on July 17, 1931, daughter of the late Curtice H. and Amanda M. (Guy) Kendall and was a 1949 graduate of Murdock High School. Later in life, she earned her Associates Degree in Liberal Arts in Sciences from Mt. Wachusett Community College and in 2006, she earned her Associates Degree in Human Services from Mt. Wachusett Community College.
Phyllis worked for many years as a clerk at the former Merrill Insurance Agency of Winchendon and Heritage Insurance Agency of Gardner. Phyllis was a long time communicant of Immaculate Heart of Mary Church, where she had been a CCD teacher, lector and minister of the eucharist. She was also a member of Children of Mary Sodality, Holy Family Sodality and Legion of Mary. Phyllis was also a life member of Winchendon Historical Society and Winchendon Golden Age Club.
She leaves numerous cousins.
Funeral services will be held Tuesday, November 19, 2019 at 10 A.M. in Stone-Ladeau Funeral Home, 343 Central Street, Winchendon. Burial will be in Riverside Cemetery.
A calling hour will be held Tuesday from 9 AM to 10 A.M. preceding the funeral.

WINCHENDON – Edward P. Gray, 53, of 98 Glenallen Street, died Thursday evening, November 14, 2019 in Heywood Hospital, Gardner.
He was born in Ruislit, England on June 3, 1966 and came to this country as an infant. He lived in Winchendon for 14 years.
Ed worked as an engineer at the Boxboro Regency Hotel in Boxboro. He proudly served his country as a member of the United States Navy. His hobbies were fishing, woodworking, golfing and playing disc golf.
Ed leaves his wife of 24 years, Ana M. (Salazar) Gray; a son, Luis Perez of Houston, TX; two grandchildren, Londyn Perez and Angellina Perez; his father, Frank Gray and his wife Ann of Old Orchard Beach, ME; his mother, Daphne (Phillips) Kilpatrick of Gloucester, England; two sisters, Alicia Burke and her husband Kenneth of Mystic, CT and Samantha Chandler of England; two nephews, Zachary Burke and Ben Chandler and a niece, Sophie Chandler.
A Mass of Christian Burial will be held Saturday, November 23, 2019 at 10 A.M. in Immaculate Heart of Mary Church, 52 Spruce Street, Winchendon.

James E. Kelley

JULY 31, 1941 ~ NOVEMBER 16, 2019 (AGE 78)


ROYALSTON – James E. Kelley, 78, of Royalston, died at home Saturday morning, November 16, 2019, with his family at his side.
He was born in Framingham, MA on July 31, 1941, son of the late Earl J. and Vera F. (Leach) Kelley and had lived in Royalston for 20 years. Jim had previously lived in Athens, VT for over twenty years, following his retirement from the Navy.
Jim proudly served his country as a Master Chief in the United States Navy from 1958 to 1980. Following his military service, he worked as a police officer and dispatcher in Bellows Falls, VT. and as a constable in Athens, VT. and as a deputy sheriff in Windham County, VT. Jim was a life member of Winchendon Rod and Gun Club and a long time member and water aerobics enthusiast at the Wendell P. Clark YMCA in Winchendon. He was a graduate of Chesapeake Community College in Chesapeake, VA. Jim enjoyed hunting, fishing and spending time with his family.
He leaves his wife of 57 years, Priscilla (Holdsworth) Kelley; two children, Kathleen Costello and her husband Michael of Nottingham, NH and James E. Kelley II and his wife Joanna of Shrewsbury; five grandchildren, Jim III of Templeton, Scott of Boylston and Mikey of Athol, Connor Costello of Beverly and Terri Costello of Nottingham, NH; four great grandchildren; a sister, Joan Greene of Mystic, CT; a brother, Joe Kelley of Brockton, as well as nieces and nephews.
Graveside services, with military honors, will be held Thursday, November 21, 2019 at 1 P.M. in Jonas Alliene Cemetery, Royalston. A reception for family and friends will follow at the Carriage House Restaurant, 660 Spring Street, Winchendon.

DECEMBER 27, 1949 ~ NOVEMBER 19, 2019 (AGE 69)


WINCHENDON – Jeanne T. (LaFreniere) Cooper, 69, of 119 Ipswich Drive, died unexpectedly Tuesday, November 19, 2019 at her residence.
She was born in Bellows Falls, VT on December 27, 1949, daughter of the late Ernest and Ethel (Chisamore) LaFreniere and lived in Winchendon for most of her life. She was a graduate of Murdock High School and Shepherd Gill School of Nursing in Boston.
Jeanne had worked as a licensed practical nurse for over 23 years at the former Templeton Developmental Center until her retirement in 2015. She was a member of Eugene M. Connor American Legion Auxiliary. She enjoyed reading and greatly enjoyed spending time with her family.
She leaves three children, Sarah C. Blair and her husband Chad of Winchendon, Jenny F. Cooper of Gardner and Kathryn J. Guillemette of Winchendon; six grandchildren, Zachary Blair, Nicholas Blair, Jacob M. Cooper, Kyle B. Ciliberti, Emma J. Guillemette and Cooper D. Guillemette; two sisters, Vickie Morin and her husband Rick of Winchendon and Mary Reilly and her husband Richard of Antrim, NH, two brothers, Michael J. LaFreniere and his wife Kathleen of Athol and James P. LaFreniere of Winchendon, as well as many nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by a sister, Judith “Pooka” Knight and a brother, Ernest LaFreniere.
Calling hours will be held Saturday, November 23, 2019 from 2 to 4 P.M. in Stone-Ladeau Funeral Home, 343 Central Street, Winchendon.
A Funeral service will follow at Saturday at 4 P.M. at the end of calling hours.

Robert M. Murphy

FEBRUARY 9, 1932 ~ NOVEMBER 19, 2019 (AGE 87)


BALDWINVILLE- Robert M. Murphy, 87, a longtime resident of Somerville, died peacefully Tuesday, November 19, 2019, at Alliance Health in at Baldwinville, with his family at his side.
He was born in Medford, MA February 2, 1932. Bob grew up in Somerville and proudly served his country in the United States Navy during the Korean War.
Bob had worked as an instructor at the Andover Tractor Trailer Driving School in his earlier years. After leaving the trucking business, he attended the Belford University and graduated magna cum laude earning a master of science degree in computer information systems. Bob worked as a systems analyst for many years at Digital Equipment Corporation before his retirement. Bob was a proud member of Mensa. He was very passionate about driving and loved taking rides with his wife. He also enjoyed vacationing in Las Vegas and loved dogs.
He is survived by his loving wife of 54 years, Agnes (Bayiates) Murphy and his daughter Angela Murphy of Winchendon; sons Robert, Roger, and the late Richard; his sister, Patricia Byrnes of West Springfield; and several nieces and nephews.
Funeral services will be held Friday, November 22, 2019 at 12PM in Stone-Ladeau Funeral Home, 343 Central Street, Winchendon. Committal prayers and military honors will follow in the Massachusetts Veterans’ Memorial Cemetery, 111 Glenallen Street, Winchendon. A calling hour will be held at the funeral home from 11AM-12PM, preceding the funeral.

David Baxter Fellows

1939 ~ NOVEMBER 10, 2019 (AGE 80)


David Baxter Fellows, 80 of Winchendon, formerly of Westford and Littleton passed away at home on Sunday morning, November 10, 2019 after a courageous battle with leukemia. He was the loving husband of 59 years to Joan (Croft) Fellows.
David was born in Melrose, a son to the late Dorothy (Fish) and Herbert E. Fellows. He resided in Littleton with his loving and caring wife for more than 40 years before moving to their current home in Winchendon, which he built in 2002. As a youth, David lived in Scituate and Westford. He graduated from Lowell Trade High School as a machinist and was employed for many years at Donelan's Supermarket in Littleton where he was the store manager. After 36 years, he began working for Idylwilde Farm in Acton, eventually retiring in 2007.
David was exceptional. He was known as a hard worker and loved to stay busy. He was a home builder and was especially loved his self-built cottages at Pearce Lake in Antrim, NH and Ocean Park, ME. He was a furniture maker, wood refinisher and a talented landscaper. He enjoyed the outdoors working with woodcrafts and gardening, raising his chickens and collecting the fresh eggs as well as caring for wildlife and of course, his beloved Boston Terriers.
In addition to his wife, Joan, David is survived by his two sons; Christopher David and Steven Baxter Fellows, both of Winchendon. He is also survived by his beloved grandchildren; Chrystal Fellows Santos and James Santos and their children Charlee Faith Vera Fellows and David James Santos of Greenfield, his beloved grandson Chad Steven Fellows of Chelmsford and his beloved "like-a-daughter," Maureen O'Brien of Winchendon. David is further survived by his brother William Fellows and wife Katherine of Westford, sister Sandra Gladu and husband Raymond of Pelham, NH, sister-in-law Sandra Fellows of Shapleigh, ME, brother-in-law Albert Croft and wife Loretta of E. Falmouth, and his sister-in-law Kathleen Croft of Ayer. David is sadly predeceased by his brother Herbert Fellows, Jr.
Family and friends will gather to honor and remember David on Tuesday November 19, 2019 from 10:30 AM until 12:00 PM in the Badger Funeral Home, 347 King St., Littleton. A funeral service with US Navy honors will immediately follow at Noon in the funeral home. Interment will be private and at a later date.
