Take the Challenge for House of Peace and Education!

HOUSE OF PEACE AND EDUCATION in Gardner is pleased to announce a Challenge Grant opportunity. Between now and December 1st all donations toward this challenge will be matched by the grant ($15,000 max). It comes during a great month too…since November is about being grateful and thankful!

This is a HUGE opportunity for HOPE to give back MORE to the community and those who need their services. HOPE for Kids has 3 after school programs servicing children in grades 3 & 4. The Pals Mentoring Program provides young children with opportunities for fun, peer interaction, creative skills development, positive social behaviors and exploring expression of feelings for grades 6-8. Teen HOPE offers youth in grades 5-7 academic, cultural and social skill building. The HOPE Job Readiness & Training Program offers computer and job-skills training in an 8 week program to adults who wish to enter or re-enter the workforce or get better jobs to improve the quality of life for themselves and their families.

The Challenge is running through December 1st and HOPE needs help to reach their goal. Winter months are the most challenging financially for keeping the programs and building running at 100%. This is a great way to help this amazing organization get sizable donations to keep doing what they do best: provide others with HOPE during a time when they need it most.

Please consider donating to this cause and be part of changing lives around you. Please send donations with CHALLENGE in the memo to:

New England’s Top Blues-Rock Band Performs LIVE in Jaffrey

Park Theatre presents Boston’s Award-Winning Chris Fitz Band for benefit concert on November 16

JAFFREY, New Hampshire (November 12, 2019) Chris Fitz has been playing with his bands for over 25 years. His influences include Albert Collins, Eric Clapton and Jimi Hendrix. The Chris Fitz Band is a hot pot of blues jambalaya, mixing swing, jump, Chicago and Texas blues styles with a healthy dose of funk, soul, rock-n-roll, and a touch of British blues-rock (think Eric Clapton with the Blues Breakers and Cream). This power trio has a spicy sound all their own! Based in Boston, the Chris Fitz Band tours throughout New England and the United States.

This Saturday, November 16, at 8:00pm, The Park Theatre will present The Chris Fitz Band for a rockin’ performance at the American Legion Hall in Jaffrey, located at 20 Webster Street. All tickets are $20.00 each. It promises to be a toe-tappin’ night of classic and contemporary blues and rock & roll.

Blues Audience Magazine has awarded Chris and his band with multiple audience awards, including “Outstanding Guitar Player” in 2015 and “Outstanding Blues Band” in 2007. Chris won 1st Place in the West Coast International Songwriting Festival in the Blues category for his composition, “This Is My Church.”

The American Legion bar will be open for beverage sales (ID required), and food will also be sold. Tickets and information can be obtained by calling The Park Theatre box office at (603) 532-8888 or by visiting www.theparktheatre.org.

The American Legion Post 11 has generously donated the use of their Hall for this event. The concert production is underwritten by a generous gift from Hampsey & Grenier of Jaffrey. All ticket sales will support the new Park Theatre that is scheduled to open in 2020. The two-auditorium state-of-the-art performing arts complex is currently under construction in downtown Jaffrey.

The Park Theatre will be the first community-based performing arts center to be built from the ground up in the Monadnock region in almost one hundred years. It will be a showplace for national and regional musical performers as well as plays from New England playwrights, local performing groups, school productions, and movies from new releases to independents, classics, documentaries, foreign and animation. It will also present HD screenings of The Royal Shakespeare Company and the Royal Ballet & Royal Opera. Additionally, it will provide after school theatre craft programs and filmmaking courses. Finally, it will generate over two dozen new jobs and promote business and real estate development in Jaffrey and the surrounding communities.
